Ribes sanguineum

This is an exciting flowering currant from the North West. It is supposedly hardy to zone 5-- we're hoping it works here (I have never seen it anywhere near here)

Getting Ready for Daffodil Walk

Our daffodil party is 2 weeks away now and it looks like the flowers will be at the right stage on May 10th. Right now the Glanthus, Petasites and Chionodoxa are at their peak. The trash is not completely picked up yet and in fact there will be evidence or hoarding on the premesis.

Spring is Here

I saw the first Hepatica in bloom in the woods in Thetford Center today. I'm excited. I also noticed four 3-4" apple trees completely girdled by mice last winter- after I had protected them for years from borers, cattle, horses deer and mice. I thought they were big enough not to need mouse guards but I was wrong.

Daffodil Walk Coming Up

Dana andd I are planning our annual "Daffodil Walk" Sunday, May 10th at 4:00. I haven't done the picture yet mfor the invitations , so maybe I'll still change the date- the best thing would be to call me at the nursery to find out for sure. As usual there are alot of trashy areas on our property but that is life. The snowdrops are in full bloom now- as are the snow crocus. We're still waiting for everything else. I weeded my walking onions on Sunday and had dandelions for supper last night so spring is progressing nicely- it just took it a while.
